Important Tips for Selecting Courses and Planning for Timely Graduation
- A full-time graduate load typically consists of 3 courses (8-9 credit hours). Taking on more than that may adversely affect your performance. We strongly recommend avoiding an overloaded schedule to help you manage your coursework effectively.
 - Please be aware that you can only use 4 courses at the 50000 level for credit toward your master’s degree. This applies to all master’s programs, including MS-CS , MA-CS, and MS-DS (Data Science ).
 - If you are pursuing the non-thesis track, you must have 18 credit hours (including current semester enrollment) before you can enroll in CS 69099 Capstone Project.
 - You can take the Capstone Project only once for 3 credit hours.
 - Thesis and research credits require approval from your thesis advisor.
 - Do not enroll in more courses than you need, as this helps us evaluate the needs of incoming students.
 - International students must complete at least 5 credit hours of in-person instruction to be eligible for an online course. The only exception is during your final semester if you only need one course.
 - International students needing less than full-time enrollment to complete their degree must apply for RCL (Reduced Course Load). You can find the application in the ISSS portal: .
 - Internship/CPT – The last day to request is the first day of classes. Please plan ahead to ensure you receive your offer letter before the deadline. For more information, visit: Graduate Programs Internships.
