Remembering 9/11 Through the Eyes of the Daily ÍøÆØÃÅr

Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001, started out as a typical day at the Daily ÍøÆØÃÅr. Reporters were preparing for their daily assignments. Editors were planning their daily meetings. But, by the time Daily ÍøÆØÃÅr staff got to the newsroom on Tuesday, they were faced with just one story: a plane had crashed into the World Trade Center.

ÍøÆØÃÅ junior Anthony Scilla was on his way across campus Dec. 2, 2022, when his Reporting professor Jacqueline Marino messaged the class saying Student Media needed all the help they could get. A massive fire had broken out at Star of the West Milling Co. building on N. Water Street in Kent, and they needed reporters and photographers to cover it.

‘Two-Tired’ to Walk? Take a Scooter

Electric scooters have become increasingly popular on the Kent Campus since the introduction of SPIN scooters in March 2022. Approximately 300 eScooters and 150 eBikes are available to rent. With that in mind, the ÍøÆØÃÅ Community should be aware of the dos and don’ts when operating the scooters.

Taking Out the Trash

ÍøÆØÃÅ students grabbed their paddles, boots and waders to help clean up the Cuyahoga River. The service trip was put together by the Warren Student Recreation and Wellness Services’ Adventure Center, which holds adventure trips, service trips and team-building programs.
